Welcoming Lucas Vogelsang as Venture Partner

We are thrilled to welcome Lucas Vogelsang as a Venture Partner at Blockchain Capital.

Lucas is the co-founder of Centrifuge, the institutional ecosystem for on-chain credit. In 2020, Centrifuge became the first DeFi protocol to bring Real-World Assets (RWA) on-chain, and it has since facilitated the first institutional grade RWA transaction with Sky, (formerly MakerDAO) and BlockTower Credit tokenizing private credit funds totalling $220M in 2023. Since then Centrifuge grew to one of the three largest issuers of tokenized products along with Securitize, another BCAP portfolio company.

Before building Centrifuge, he was the CTO & Co-Founder of DeinDeal, a Groupon competitor acquired in 2011, and later one of the early engineers at Taulia, a supply chain finance fintech acquired by SAP in 2022. 

As an early pioneer of RWAs, Lucas has a tremendous amount of experience and knowledge about the intersection of traditional asset classes and crypto. His work has helped unlock a multi-trillion-dollar opportunity for the DeFi ecosystem, and he continues to lead the conversation around how institutional-grade finance can be built on-chain, including starting the leading annual conference for RWAs, the RWA Summit. 

At BCAP, we’ve been closely following the RWA sector after having created the world’s first tokenized security in 2017 -- our tokenized fund (called BCAP) -- which we manage on our portfolio company Securitize’s platform. After 8 years, the RWA market is finally hitting escape velocity, having grown 80% YTD to over $28B of tokenized securities onchain. Lucas has long been a friend of the firm and thought partner, and as the new world of onchain finance takes form, we’re excited to work together to identify and partner with the future leaders of the space as they take on the wildly ambitious and necessary task of modernizing the world’s financial infrastructure. 

As Venture Partner, Lucas will work closely with our team and portfolio companies, advising on both technical and strategic dimensions of building in crypto and RWAs. His perspective as both a repeat founder and RWA pioneer will strengthen our efforts to support entrepreneurs who are bridging traditional finance and decentralized networks. Lucas’s work shows how crypto and institutions can converge in meaningful ways, and we’re excited to deepen our commitment to founders driving real-world adoption and building the future of finance on-chain.
